The Test Not Taken Poem by Celina Alegria

The Test Not Taken

A test to take in calculus soon,
Usually taken on little sleep,
This time, performance must be in tune
I must study in the afternoon,
By nightfall I must be sleeping deep.

Limits are problems I will face,
Derivatives, integrals as well,
Velocity too…this test I must ace!
Have to keep going, keep the pace,
Though certain concepts I only fell.

I do not want to travel this road,
I would rather just stop and stare,
Oh, on my shoulders sits this huge load!
I must take it, this test will just goad
My soul ‘till I do the math; break the code.

Taking this test, I will do my best,
Even if my best isn’t enough.
I cannot stop; I refuse to rest,
I must study, though I get stressed,
Come out a diamond past the rough…
Yeah right!
