The Things We Carry Poem by Clesec Swahn

The Things We Carry

Rating: 5.0

A rubber band
A ball of lint
A piece of gum that smells of mint

Random coins
A piece of paper
All these things I've saved for later

A strand of hair that isn't mine
A bit of sand
A bit of grime

A cell phone with an empty battery
A paper clip
A ticket from my vegas trip

A zip lock bag with nothing in it
A very lucky lottery ticket

Bits and Pieces
Odds and Ends
Even two Mickey Mouse pens

The detective found them all but no ID
Luckily the contents of my pockets
Told him that the corpse was me
