The Third Temple Poem by Dr. Charles A Stone

The Third Temple

I will come for you in the future tense.
when? I don't know
but I will sing and will shatter
your notion of the present
maybe split an infinitive
and leave you behind
unconjugated

weeping for me to return
as I have done so often
in the past (speaking
to you of stars before they were lighted
of suns before they burned
of moons oh yes, of moons
at the very moment they peaked
over the horizon
and caught a glimpse of the sun
their eyes set afire with passion
such as we shared…

when? in the past
in another life in a universe
that knows no then
now or coming soon
to a theater near you

No, I will
come for you when Yeru-shalayim
is united under one god
and is at peace at last!
