The Toking And The Booze Poem by Benjamin K Duncan

The Toking And The Booze

Where I wonder in auburn madness
dream of wonder, dream of sadness
Living like no tomorrow
in a day already forgotten.

This time it means nothing
whereas the feast has no eyes.
this lenient beast
looked at me. soothing.

Fear not and come close
breathe deep, off morose.
Can't you see the answer
like a doves beat, no glance-romancer.

I've tapped out a thousand words
sipped from a glass, thought and blurred.
Touched a soul with the finest razor
and gleened a girl with a top-knotch blazer.

It all equates to everything,
in the end that's what you have to lose.
The smack, the smokes, the triffid's dance
the toking and the booze.
