The Trail Ride Horse Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Trail Ride Horse

I spend my life a’waitin’
For someone to hop on my back
For I’ve been trained to carry
A rider and sometimes a pack

Occasionally I get a person
Who has never been on a horse
But it doesn’t really matter
Cause I love every ride, of course

And when I’m not out riding
I visit with my fellow corral mates
We chat amongst ourselves
We might even have a little debate

I love when a little kid
Is excited and clings to my mane
He giggles with anticipation
But me, I am always the same

Sometimes I carry a pretty lady
With perfume that smells really nice
And riding on another of my friends
Is her boyfriend who’s wearing Old Spice

Whoever I take out riding
Usually pats and rubs on my side
It’s a special life for a horse
I just love the place I reside!
