The Tree That Grew From Love

One day a spouse
Grew a tree by the their house
They decided it would represent
What their love meant
It started from a seed
Growing to look like a weed
But that tree it did grow
From the sun and the snow
The tree it grew tall
It's leaves changed colors in the fall
Then the leaves would be shed
Making the tree look dead
But the tree was alive
From love it survived
As years went by
The tree touched the sky
The couple had kids
And they loved the tree they did
When they needed to flee
They ran and climbed up the tree
From the branches they swing
They'd laugh and they'd sing
You think the tree would grow weak
From to much hide and go seek
But the tree stayed the same
While the years they came
But the tree it got neglect
Only one kid gave it respect
One kid you see
Still loved the tree
She still came each day
And read under the shade
The tree blocked the light
That was to bright
For the tree it was blue
It no longer grew
The kid still came
But it wasn't the same
The tree had only one range
And it had begun to change
Instead of looking out
It began to droop down
For the tree began to wither
When the only love left was a sliver
The tree began to lose it's leaves
It was in this way the tree grieved
For the tree flourished on love of course
And there isn't much love in a divorce
There wasn't much to do
The kids knew the marriage was over they knew
But when the van pulled up to leave
The girl looked back and stared at the tree
The girl tried to stay mellow
But the tree was completely withered and yellow
When the girl looked around
She tried not to make a sound
For she feared she might have cried
For the tree it had died
But before she'd leave
She'd carve her name in the tree
They left in a haste
But the memory was stuck like paste
The tree and the house
Now belong to a new spouse
For when she'd check she'd see
Kids playing around a big lively tree
She left in a haste
But the memory stuck like paste

EVEN such is Time, that takes in trust
Our youth, our joys, our all we have,
And pays us but with earth and dust;
Who in the dark and silent grave,
