The Unhappy Side Of Valentines Day
Valentines day gives most people a rush,
To me it's a day to think of my crush.
At 17 I've never had a valentine,
No one to hold; no one to call mine.
Couples kissing; an annoying site,
Especially when you've got no one to keep you warm at night.
I really thought I had found the one,
At first; it was a love full of fun.
To me she was the world and I loved her very dearly,
Then everything came crashing down and the mists of love cleared so I could clearly.
Since then I've found it hard to say 'I love you, '
Even my family hear no such phrase.
I cannot bring myself to say those words that bring a sharp pang dread,
The atmosphere of valentines day is well and truly dead.
For one so young I have sceptical views,
About how to love and what to do.
There's no instructions on how to get over a failed love and heartbreak,
How long will it be before I feel those butterflies of embarrassment again and the thrilling nervous shakes?
