The Valentine's Verse Poem by Rounaq Dhar

The Valentine's Verse

Rating: 5.0

Imagine she wasn't there,
How would it have been?
Life would've flown through the years,
Would love have been unseen?

Would you have been braver?
Would there have been more glee?
Or would it have been dreary,
Something trapped, yearning to be free?

Who would have fussed you around
Like the gentle touch of the incessant breeze
Who would have kissed your face,
Every when your brow was creased

Who would you run to, oh dear
At the slightest hint of turning times
Who would your solace be,
When bells of toil chimed

Who would your muse be
For every time that your heart flew free
To paint, sing, write about
And who'd you give this poem to read?

Would you have felt better
That you were omnipotent
None to dictate, none to bind you
Your own rules, wherever you went

Would it have been so good, worth being on your own
Through the flowing time, unknowing of this world
Through the meadows through the woods
Would you have felt invincible, independent, bold?

How would it feel to not be kissed
To feel no sign, and love your own,
Not knowing the touch of warm skin on yours
When your darkest fears chilled your bone

Whose voice would you want to hear,
Each time that you wept,
Consoling, comforting, caring, guarding
Your heart whole and away from harm, who'd have kept?

Who would you want to hug,
When you felt happy and merry
To share your joy, to hold her hand,
That face of euphoria, your guardian fairy

That Ironlady who was your anchor,
Through times of black, through times of white
Who held your hand no matter what
What'd happen, if you didn't find?

Life would have been lonely,
Had lady luck not waved her wand
To bring me her, my lady bug,
Those almond eyes and tiny hands

Her gaze holds me, her voice is nectar,
Her laughter makes me yearn and yearn
For one little touch and one little kiss
For without her my heart would burn

For the heart wants what the heart wants,
And she is the one that mine fixed upon,
My strength, my weakness, my one, my all,
She knows not what happens when she's gone

The hell that is unfurled, fresh,
When blood feels acrid, and veins all burn,
When nights are terror, and walls close in,
When the wails of the heart mourn

Her absence, so felt, so great,
Runs me over like a searing grate
Skewers me clean, no mercy at all,
And all the pain so harsh so great

And all I wish is for her to know,
To know what love I have for her
Greater than ever, stronger than ever,
For without you, my love, my heart is a traitor

Lovely and an outstanding composition. This has the spark and speaks of the spirit of love. Who would have kissed your face, Every when your brow was creased For without you, my love, my heart is a traitor
