The Veteran Poem by Tony Adah

The Veteran

Old soldier went to wars
Both home and abroad
He wore gusto in his heart
When he came home
Gallantry spoke from the medals
Hanging on his chest.
Our nation remembered him
Only on the armer forces remembrance day
And paid him neglect for his pension.
All he garnered at youth
Began to yield to time
And the medals left his chest
Dangling on the wall
Soon old soldier is gone
