The Viet Nam War Poem by J.B. LeBuert

The Viet Nam War

Rating: 4.5

I've rarely spoken of the war before.
It's not something that I like to relive.
All I needed was to stop remembering the gore.
There was nothing much for me to forgive.

The acts that were done in the name of the free,
Should have been called what they were.
Many are committed to keep some wealthy in tea.
Wars are fought for greed, and the money they lure.

I truly hate war, and those that profit from it.
There should be a more sane way to make a buck.
The ones that keep doing this, it just doesn't fit,
I hope you know now, you're about to run out of luck.

The arms dealers and makers, should be ashamed,
What they do, and what they have done, to mankind.
There's more to life and you know you'll be blamed,
For the deaths of millions. I hope that's on your mind.

The Viet Nam War was such a disaster;
All those boys sent around the world.
Once again for the love of the piaster.
Not to have our flag unfurled.

If we haven't yet learned the facts of war,
Then we're bound to repeat the mistakes.
Let those within hearing distance, I implore,
Please let's stop these stupid retakes.

It always comes out the same,
More of the best and brightest are dead.
For those in power, it's you I blame.
Stop the insanity, before it costs you, your head!
