The Voice Inside My Head Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

The Voice Inside My Head

The voice inside my head
Knows nothing of silence,
Even as I work to suppress
All of my warped anxieties.
The thoughts make clanging
Sounds as they march
Around in my head disturbing
What should have been my peace.
I thought, in truth, that reallly
It didn't matter if we were not
Together...yet here I am,
With a million scenarios
Invading my space because you
Are strutting about, somewhere,
Flaunting your independence...
Without me and the silent
Telephone is too loud!
This night is too, too long,
And the voice inside my head
Is at a feaver's pitch!
Stop!
