The Way I Am Poem by Lisa Teres Fraser

The Way I Am

I try to shelter you from my true self
In fear that you will run
What will you do
Once you have discovered what I truly am
I curse myself for having these visions
But cross my fingers in hopes
I will learn this time
If you could just hear my silent call

I am so sorry
For I am broken
I should have warned you
But the end is always the same
I will destroy
Without words
Without intention
But with the way I am.
