The Way You Are Poem by Austin Quintero

The Way You Are

There's something about the way you are that makes me forget the way I feel; that makes me forget I want to breathe in the cold Himalayan air or stroll the moonlit Venice streets in the ripest part of summer.

It could be because of the way we talk for hours on end about nothing and everything with no sense of time, or because of the way you get lost in a simple piece of music just after the first notes are played.

It could be because when you smile you genuinely smile and can set even the darkest corners of the universe alight, or because when you talk you leave behind such emotion you could move even the happiest man to tears.

It could be because the way the moon and stars shine through your eyes makes any homemade wine seem pointless, or because when you look at me you seem to really look at me, and for a moment, my heart comes to a stop.

In the end I guess it's simply you that makes me forget the way I feel; it's because the way you are is the way you are and no matter how beautiful it may be, no night in Paris or Rome could ever replace a night with you.
