The Web Of Time

In the rustling of the leaves
someone called my name

a voice so familiar
same old haunting refrain

hearing you on that Autumn day
My mind seemed to float away

to another time and place
visions of your handsome face

feelings just won't go away
keeps returning day by day

Caught up in the web of time
ever returning in my rhymes

if I could take tomorrow
trade it for today

I'd wrap my arms around you
never let you walk away.

The romance tinged with regret gives this poem the atmosphere of a scene from a classic film. This is such a feminine poem - thank you for sharing it. (Report) Reply

You hear your name whispered by someone dear in the rustle of leaves and the rush of wind! Not to let him flee away, you wrap your hands around! What romantic fancy! ! Enjoyed! (Report) Reply

I really like it, but the line skips interrupt the flow of the poem. Otherwise it's awesome! (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
