The Web Of You Poem by John Whitfield

The Web Of You

I threw some words together
like nets into the water
to catch you – or someone like you –
unaware
thoughts
light passing through a prism
would find a mark
scarlet blood-letting
over-pounding heart beats
slamming valves
mine -
it wasn’t supposed to happen like this –
the mark was s’posed to feel my thoughts
and smile
tears – joy – nah, too simple —
ebullience – LHFAO with bloody happiness,
a renaissance to find a guy to replace the love
who didn’t have the balls to stay alive
and support the child of his loins
leaving grieving widow to wander
wonder how to wipe away
the tears of sorrow.
