The Wedding Poem by ER Bron Chiong, RSW

Today I witnessed a couple
publicly announcing their vows
'to love and to cherish' until the end
with such an old but powerful line
for people who seriously declared
their eternal love for one another

What a delightful sight!
For friends and families are together
to witness the couple's love
in the midst of trivial festivities
two familiar faces emerged—
of obvious anxiety and surprising bliss

My heartfelt congratulations
to the brave couple's decision
ties the knots of surrender
of an unseen pace of the future
where two beings thrive
along but with God's guidance

Dual lives blended together
complements one another
'in sickness and in good health
till death part us not! ' in this mortal world
signal one's fate of joy and trust
to the promise of love to the very last

Recalling once again a special day of mine
a span of three and a half decade ago
where I and my young bride stood in their place
happy moments to cherish again and again
the pledge of eternal covenant to one another
real fact of history that amazes us still
