The Whale - Poem by Liam McCoppin

The Whale moans, its cry full of sorrow
For the ones lost and the ones who could have been
But the Whale looks forward, doesn’t wait for tomorrow
The Whale moves on unseen

The Whale might be big and strong
But underneath lies a side that’s never been unlocked
The Whale sails on through blue waters long
The bullets are in, the rifle already cocked

The reject continues through the water
Its song never answered
Its search can’t be found
Never finds what it wants

No one will see it
No one will ever help
This Whale will keep on swimming
Disappearing into the brown murky kelp
