The White Epidemic - Poem by Aminath Neena

Good morning Maldives
“The sunny side of life”
Where sunlight is camouflaged-
Transiently, with a pair of white briefs

Good morning Maldives
“The sunny side of life”
Where democracy is hijacked-
Ephemerally, over a pair of white briefs

Good morning Maldives
“The sunny side of life”
Where justice is jeopardized-
Temporally, within a pair of white briefs

Good morning Maldives
The sunny side of life
Where the green constitution is traumatized
Fleetingly, below a pair of white briefs

Good morning Maldives
“The sunny side of life”
Where the blood of patriots are wiped-
Evanescently, by a pair of white briefs

Welcome to Maldives
“The sunny side of life”
Where the people are confused and at halt -
Transitorily, under the shade of a pair of white briefs
