The White Ship (44) Poem by David McLansky

The White Ship (44)

(44) A Lawyer’s Ear

“A lawyer’s ear hears every word;
You said you loved me, that I heard;
With a lover’s right I petition thee,
Come my love, sit next to me.”

But she moved into a corner dark,
We forgot the beauty of the park,
Slippers scuffling on the tiles
Leaving me alone awhile.
