The Whole Of Him Poem by Susan Lacovara

The Whole Of Him

Rating: 4.8

Take him home today
The whole of Him
The heartbreaking reunion
Of a love so true with time
And tolerance
Might the sun accompany you
His last journey
Back into the tender embrace

Take him home today
The whole of Him
On a winding road
So often travelled, as two
Humming the familiar songs
Forever to haunt your heart
In the recall of a duet's harmony

Take him home today
The whole of Him
Wrapped in ribbons of melancholy
That tie him, forever, to your thoughts
And be not afraid to weep
For salted tears are telltale signs
Of a life lived well, together

Take him home today
The whole of him
Knowing it was your great and grand affection
That made him whole and happy
Beyond the stretch of years
Always remains a gentle place
Where he is whole
And home....again

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
(04/25/16) For Dominick, to receive Bob's ashes, back into his loving hands. Hands which held all Bob's joys. The whole of him, YOURS. With a heavy heart, I hold your sadness as mine.

What an emotional poem you have written for Him....the grief-stricken heart to receive the ashes...has poured down the molten emotions on you which has been well captured by you in your memorable lines...
