THE WILL - Acid Test of a Father’s Love
My father is now eighty five plus
desires to prepare a will to his heirs
not a lengthy list of assets to be shared
nor he inherited any, all are his own stake
he derived the idea from a senior pensioner
who is said to have registered his will last week
as a measure of peaceful transition among his sons
who otherwise, are bent upon in frequent brawls
like stories in Bible, my father loves his younger sons more
and decides to bequeath a larger loaf of prime things
so as to benefit them in shortest run
and for me a place in the wilderness, of no immediate gain.
I have, all along, been his obedient son
naturally, I did not make any choices then
accepting his decisions at once, in good faith
I thanked him for his calculated generousness
absolutely, I am not the person to quarrel
over the property issues with my brothers
nor I have any pressing urgency - that
I should look up to him for a windfall legacy.
but, one thing is made clear………
by this will, my father has gone on record
that he loves each of his children
…….……differently and me….the least.
