The Winds Of September Poem by Pete Rivera

The Winds Of September

The winds of September
Kept you from your dying ember
And your eyes became open

Clearly you can see now
And await the world its freedom
As it goes around the sun

You know I love you
I hold you in my arms

The cold winds of November
As the season shifts to winter
You cling on for warmth

The liars of the forests
And the myths of tomorrow
Will be gone, long gone

You know I love you
I hold you in my arms

You know for you I would
Do everything I could
To keep you here

You know I love you
I hold you in my arms

And if I could
Give you the world, I would
My dear, I would

You know I love you
I hold you in my arms

So if you wonder if you should go
Just remember and you'll know
That even though some times were rough
I gave you all of my love
I gave you all of my love

You know I love you
I won't let you go
You know I love you
I won't let you go

The cries of us were heard by God
He asked us what, if anything, was wrong
I couldn't answer
I couldn't speak
My love has me speechless

You know I love you
I won't let you go
You know I love you
I won't let you go

And even though these times are rough
Just always know you have my love
To have with you throughout your life
But I cannot pick what you decide

Do you love me?
Please don't let me go
Just know I love you
I can't let you go
