The Winter's Say Poem by Gina Van Wolf

The Winter's Say

This is what we do now
make our own empty threats
we wrap them up in blankets
and try hard to forget.

We were never lonely
there was nothing here to scare
then the winter moved in
and soon our bones were bare.

So here's to loosened memories
with love made beneath the stairs
you were never happy
and I was never made to care.

Don't hold onto me tightly
just promise to let go
and let me bury our love
beneath the glowing city snow.

This is not like the movies
no time for past mistakes
and I promise to make it better
no matter how long you take.
