The Wishing Well Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

The Wishing Well

Rating: 5.0

I dropped a penny into a
Wishing Well, and
Stood there and watched
As it fell.
Would my wish to be
Granted?
Only Time alone
Would tell.
I dropped a penny into a
Wishing Well, and
Stood there and watched
As it fell.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is the poem that help start my poetic journey in 1984. I watched the romantic movie, 'Three coins in a fountain, ' on television. Three separate American young ladies each threw a coin into a fountain in Rome. If her wish was granted, someday she would would return to Rome.
'Three coins in a fountain
{somewhere deep in the heart of Rome}
Only one wish will be granted.
Which one will the fountain bless?
Make it mine. Make it mine. Make it mine.' Those may not be the exact words of the theme song, but you can get the idea.
