The Wolf Track Poem by Nick krakana

The Wolf Track

Rating: 4.9

A wolf print I came upon
As I wandered on a new land
He had a walk like no other
His imprint did sink and make me think

Where has he been and where has he gone
Each step like a note in a symphony song

I felt his eyes as I walked along
Telepathy or instinct did come to mind
No fearful thought I had of he
I wonder if he read this in me

It was an honour just to see his way

So with a click - a photo of his track
I did carry back surprised to see such artistry
The sand like pearls did shine
My hand next to his showed a sizeable track

A rembrant photo it turned out to be
Just to picture what he would seem to be
Is the best way to remember he
The big grey wolf in the timber free

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A bush walk encounter in early spring 2014 with my son and our old friend Ben the Newfie mix golden retriever early spring on large bush roads brings out the hunters like lynx and bob cats and the wolf we did not get to see the wolf his track told us he was very near as he hunted the road for ducks and beaver along side the road in the ditch was the only open water at that early time of spring we would often find duck feathers and once a beaver the wolf had caught which gave us a small time capsule of how things have gone on for hundreds of years as the warm spring days still produce what it needed around the circle of the natural world.

Evokes pleasant images. I could envision both the track in the sand and the wolf watching you from up on the hillside. Well written.
