The World As It Really Is Poem by Erin Bryce

The World As It Really Is

My only friend is anonymity,
Her elusiveness keeps me going,
I hide behind a mask of words,
My true face? Never showing.

Stalking, some people call it,
But they simply do not know,
My work helps me and all the world
When my victims true colors I show.

My words paint them a picture,
Of terror and doubt and pain,
And they fall upon their knees to beg
I keep their secrets and keep them sane.

Blackmail, some would call it,
And to this? I have to say,
My 'job' is not that to steal,
Just push in the right way.

My role is simply to punish,
This bribery gives light to sin,
And through this monetary atonement?
Salvation lies within.
