There is one
i love
i care for
i cherish

but she is not mine
to call for
to speak to
to be with

my heart,
the pain it feels,
is like a thousand needles,
there is no cure.
for i know today,
you are my only,
love,
care,
the only person i see,
the only person that understand me.

tomorrow,
you will be,
my invisible crutch,
my endless inspiration,
my bottomless well of happiness.

And as the cruel hand of fate dictated,
you are not to be mine.
