There Is Sadness In My Soul Poem by Lone Dog

There Is Sadness In My Soul

There is sadness in my soul
For I'll never reach my goal.
It's now clear that I will fail
So my efforts I'll curtail.

My young man, you're very dear,
So I've helped you through the years.
I have helped fulfill your needs.
So you might, in life, succeed.

I've tried everything I can
So's to make, of you, a man
So you'll stand on your own feet
And your obligations meet.

But I've failed to change your heart,
Though God knows I've done my part,
For you will not change your ways
And bring sunshine to my days.

You so want to be my son
But you just won't act like one
For you've got an 'attitude'
And a tendency to 'feud'.

And although I love you, friend,
And my love will never end,
It is clear that certain traits
Are not learned but are innate.

So there's sadness in my soul.
As I give up on my goal.
They say love can all things do,
But my love has not changed you.
