There Is Still Light Inside Poem by Shalom Freedman

There Is Still Light Inside

THERE IS STILL LIGHT INSIDE

In the middle of the night
The light is inside
The world outside is black and dark
I sit quietly writing these lines
A strange peace within me.

I have done what I have done
For forty years and more
What it is
What it is worth
G-d knows.

There is still light inside
And however dark and black the night
The morning
This morning
Will come.
