There Was A Child Poem by Riitta Gyllenbogel

There Was A Child

There was a child
living in a dream
world
imaginary friends
all around
touched by madness
of other beings
lost within
an inner sound

hearing the music
of flutes in the air
she danced
to a different tune
from the one
being played
on the playing ground

spreading her wings
and flying away
from mundane things
from the every day
she flew and flew
and as she did she grew
she grew
into something new

see that star,
up there
in the sky
the one that shines
so far
so high
that star right there
is she
she that once lived
right here
beside me
