There Was A Girl Poem by Cailea Lester

There Was A Girl

There was a girl
and she met a boy
and he gave her butterflies
and when she was lonely
she turned to his bed.

There was a girl
and she lost her first love
and he gave her nothing
and when she was missing him
she turned to her blades.

There was a girl
and she found a darkness
and it gave her desperation
and when she got too sad
she turned to her pills.

There was a girl
and she found a mirror
and it gave her distortions
and when she got hungry
she turned to her scale.

There was a girl
and she met a man
and he gave her his heart
and when she fell down
he picked her back up.

There was a girl
and she's all grown up now
and she's all but forgotten her old ways
and when she remembers
she turns to her soulmate
and constant reminder of why she had stayed.
