There Were So Many Things To Be Said Poem by Shalom Freedman

There Were So Many Things To Be Said

THERE WERE SO MANY THINGS TO BE SAID

There were so many things to be said
And so much life to be lived
And so much joy to be had
And so much music to hear and love
And in all this and with all this
There was too the pain sorrow regret sadness
And all the other most difficult inner stuff
But life really life
Taken all in all
And for all time
And without the sickness at the end
Hadn’t it been pretty good?
Hadn’t it been a blessing
You really should thank God for?
And thank too so many people
Who have given you so much also?
