These Thoughts Of Mine Poem by Anton Asukile

These Thoughts Of Mine

Rating: 4.8

I thought it was a day of celebration,
but it turned a day of vibration.
I thought it would be jingle bells,
but it turned to be funeral bells.

I thought is was a day of His birth,
but it turned to be a day of your death!
That's why sometimes i think,
may be He was not born on this very day!
Perhaps it dated back in October,
the twenty fifth which I also got born!
How can it be, such a strange Christmas?

'Hellooooo.. can you here me..?
I still love you..
Hellooo... can you here me now..? '

Oh! sorry, I thought I am yelling!
Kumbe it's just these thoughts of mine!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
On a Christmas day his mother passed away. Such memories turns every his Christmas a day of sorrow, as he remembers his mother. He can not avoid it, the same kind of feelings are coming to him as every Christmas comes. When Christmas comes he feels like the late soul has turned her ears toward him, and he tries to communicate to her. But he realises it might be just his thoughts.

(The moments when we remember our beloved ones who have passed in glory, are full of sorrows and a lot goes on in the minds of us. When such days come when every one around is celebrating a particular ceremony like Christmas or New year eve or any other, the feeling of sorrow doubles to the mourners.)
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A well articulated piece of poetry depicting conflicting emotions and thoughts on Christmas day, a day of celebration which is also a day of mourning as the subject's mother took a flight into eternity. It's a nice poem with lovely rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

The dramatic monologue is very refined but nostalgic. Thanks for sharing.
