These words came from the heart.
To show that I woke up this morning
Against all odds,
I’m up, I’m out
And at least it’s a start.

These words came from the heart.
Yearning to find the right words to say
All that’s on my mind
That which torments my soul.

These words came from the heart.
Perhaps it’ll prove that my heart is empty
But that’s okay.
I’d rather be hollow
Than bear a heavily burdened one, any day.

These words came from the heart.
There was no
Editing
Subediting
Re-editing
And compressing
Just simply
Expressing.

These words came from the heart.
Typed with ten fingers on two steadying hands
Connected to a figure
More beautiful and stronger as time ticks on
But, what have I got to prove it
Without these words,
These words that came from the heart?
