They And I Poem by Da'Vetta Hayes

They And I

Rating: 5.0

I am 17 and counting..
They tell me poetry is for developed feelings
I tell them it is for the ones who feel
They tell me it is not for a child
I tell them it is for the strong at heart
They tell me it is not for the undeveloped
I tell them it is for the ones who care
They tell me it is for the sane
I tell them it is for the decisive in mind
They tell me poetry should be for grown ups
I tell them it for the ones with a thought at hand
They tell me I am a rambling child
I tell them I am a soft spoken gift
They tell me feelings are meaningless
I tell them then any marriage they are in is in vain
They tell me that is of a different source
I tell them not in the eyes of a self assured person
They tell me I will never understand
But little do they know I have understood life since birth because life is a gift, and that is what I am
