They Call It Love Poem by Kayode Lagbayi

They Call It Love

There is a supreme substance
Dwelling in the core of the heart
With its invincible nature
And attitude that surpass all
Everywhere it abides,
Turns to a land of grace

But it’s so amazing
No one has it all,
No one gives it all,
Nobody truly pays for it,
Nobody truly sells it
It’s priceless and cost nothing

A substance of formidable forces,
That binds two hearts together.
Touch it and touch nothing;
Feel if and feel existence.
You can’t measure it,
No boundaries it knows

An irresistible substance in truth
Never weary or grow old
Rejoice not in reject
Abide not in revenge
Goodness it pays for bad
Bitterness it turns to sweetness

Divine substance in all ways
No power conquers it
Repulsion it tears apart
An able warrior of unity
No rancor in it persist
Peace it radiates in a whole

A well charming substance
That restores hopeless life in jiffy,
Entity of kindness and selflessness
It gives its all in earnestness
Not jealous, boastful, or proud
An epitome of adulation

The essence of life it is
And very energy in itself and others
One thing it sees always
Goodness in everything and all things
And whenever I ask for its name
They call it Love
