They Did Not Notice Me Poem by Francis Duggan

They Did Not Notice Me

They have their daydreams of success and renown
The nubile young beauties of the coastal town
In every shade of dark and white and brown
In small groups on the beach walkway walking up and down
That youth will have it's fling none can deny
I hear them laugh and giggle as they pass me by
They do not even seem to notice me
So young and beautiful and so carefree
I wish that I could see life in their way
And laugh loud in the sunlight of the day
The youth, beauty, joy and girliness in them not hard to see
The years have made an old man out of me
I may as well have been a passing fly
They did not even notice me as they walked by.
