They Died For What Was Right Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

They Died For What Was Right

The Clock-Tower Memorial stands in Golders Green
To commemorate once more,
Those who fought and were killed
In the two World Wars.

Bedecked with Tributes, Poppies, Wreaths,
In the November Sun,
Our Forces remembered for the deeds they did,
To gain Peace for everyone.

All over Britain on November Days,
Wreaths are laid by many,
People give Charity to Poppy Appeals,
Some large ~ some just a penny.

We wear our Poppies with great pride,
Conscious of what they did,
Those Women and Men who died for us,
And whose Courage was not hid.

So when I pass Memorials many,
Although I was too young to join the fight,
I remember with Pride their Sacrifice
~ To Die For What Was Right.
