They May Yet Do To Him Poem by Francis Duggan

They May Yet Do To Him

The man who was once admired as a king
His praises nowadays they no longer do sing
Even some of John Howard's loyal admirers now say
That life does go on and he did have his day
Kevin Rudd Australia's new Prime Minister the limelight enjoy
He has dreamed of the top job since he was a boy
The Labor Party leader by the Australian voters as Prime Minister empowered
They have rejected the Government led by John Howard
For eleven and a half years the change it was due
And for Kevin Rudd it is a dream come true
In a wave of emotion he has been swept along
The man at the moment who cannot do wrong
By the Australian people he has been empowered
But they may yet do to him what they did to John Howard.
