'Thief Of Smiles' Poem by Linda Winchell

'Thief Of Smiles'

Rating: 5.0

There was a young boy who was very sad
asked God that he be granted just one wish he prayed.
That if he could, and he really would
steal childrens faces smiles, that they'd made.

He'd sneak in childrens bedroom windows
and steal all the smiles that he saw.
Then place them in a jar, and tighten down the lid
and lock it away, in a kitchen cabinet drawer!

It made him feel much better, he thought
then a smile on his face he felt appear!
And knew of what he must do
he saw his vision, oh so clear!

He snuck back through town windows
replaced all the blank sad faces, with their smiles
and vowed to never pray again for such
to be this little, Thief Of Smiles.
