There are many things
I will miss when I return
to the U. S. A.
Beautiful temple,
palm trees, delicious mangos
falling all year round.
Pineapple that tastes
like it was made in Heaven
and of course it was.
Papaya so sweet
it sort of melts in your mouth.
Simply fantastic!
Free bus rides for us
old fogeys of advanced age.
We do get around!
In Recife, you
can buy almost anything
as far as foods go.
Apples from Chile
and some from Argentina
and olives from Spain.
Salsa from Texas,
potato crisps from England,
Pringles, New Jersey.
Tomato juice, Spain,
sweet honey from Italy,
foods from all the world.
I will also miss
lizards in the flower beds
as fast as lightning.
Little Bem-Te-Vi*,
black and grey and also white,
searching for insects.
Tropical climate.
Summer weather all year long.
Never gets too cold.
Colorful dresses
and skirts the women wear here,
and blouses as well.
But absolutely
I will miss these wonderful
people most of all.
Kim, Lovely poem! ! Wish I could see what you see. Looking forward to your return to Kaysville next month where we can again meet at McDonald's for breakfast and a chess game or two.
Your memories will always keep your heart there, Kim. As well as your Brazilian friends' memories of you.

we DO have a variety of foods in California; i don't know if Utah has more than beef jerky and cactus leaves, and lots of salt. the photo reminds me of the redwoods in our part of northern CA. bri :)
