Thinking About Bukowski Poem by Andrew Matthews

Thinking About Bukowski

Thinking About Bukowski

Can't be bothered doing anything
Even though I’m writing this
I'm just thinking, it's been so long since I’ve had a woman
To kiss
Just lying on my bed
Writing this and smoking a roll-up
I've ran out of filtered cigarettes again {before I should}
Smoking roll-ups is so soul destroying
But I can't just quit, I like a smoke too much

Just lying here on my bed, thinking
Thinking about Bukowski and his book of poems
That I’ve just finished reading

I'm not much of a reader, but I just couldn’t
Put the book down, two days it took me to read {on and off}
That’s the quickest book I’ve ever read and I haven’t
Read that many

Just lying here on my bed, wondering what it would
Have been like to have known him
He probably wouldn’t have liked me anyway although
I love women and tobacco but not quite an alcoholic... yet
Judging by his poetry he was an interesting guy... there's absolutely no doubt about that.

Yes! Absolutely no doubt Bukowsky was a very interesting fellow!
