This Gown Poem by Lisbon Tawanda Chigwenjere

This Gown

Rating: 5.0

Our graduates are playing soccer in the business district,
Because our economic policies are too strict,
They hinder the creation of jobs,
They trigger the rising of mobs,
Our graduates are playing soccer wearing their gowns,
They are playing street soccer in our towns,
Our government promised them a million jobs,
But they remain unemployed in their academic robes

This gown used to be a source of pride,
Before it became something that everyone derides,
This gown has become a sleeping gown,
Because they have caused our industries to close down,
This gown has become a pyjama,
Our universities have become a theater where we play our drama,
This gown used to be priceless,
But this gown has become useless,
Our government promised us a million jobs,
But we remain unemployed in our academic robes

Wonderful humor is shared through this gown. This very thought provoking poem as unemployment is big issue. Amazing! 10
