This Is Our War Cry Poem by Haven Leonel

This Is Our War Cry

Why did men lay down their swords,
and start to dropp their shields?
Worship one but not ten lords,
and learn that war just kills?

Did they loose the anger in their hearts,
take out violence and bring in peace?
Did they realize that when one thing starts,
on its own it can not cease?

Did they apologize for their ways,
of anger, pain, and murder?
Did they realize today's the day,
we should be smarter, we should be better'?

For so long mankind has fought,
and they have shed so much blood.
Did they grow tired of marching in the hot,
and crawling in the mud?

I don't think mankind has learned.
I believe the wars have just begun.
Because those men only dropped their swords,
to trade them for a gun.

(the
point of this poem is that ever since the beginning of time violence
has been in our nature and although we are so much more advanced than
we were thousands of years ago, we still have a violent nature, we
continue to fight and kill, the only difference is, we don't use swords
anymore.)
