This Is What I Call Life

A young man on the street
not sure where he stands
just waiting for the dealer
with the money in his hands

This young girl is on the run
she's not sure where to go
there's a baby on the way
and the father doesn't know

These drugs have got this young man lying
barely breathing on the floor
his friends just left him dying
as they walk out the door

A newborn baby's coming home
a brand new mother's on her feet
frustrated with the baby crying
as he's shaken and beat

This woman has her baby
with no money to move on
the father recently overdosed
everything she had is gone

She begins to work in the club
just to make a buck
to feed her baby boy
trying to press her luck

She sees many men
each and every day
she thinks she's fallen in love
and her problems have gone away

She soon quits her job
to get married to her boo
but there were things about him
that she never knew

He's been put in jail
from time and time agian
he's been into trouble
since the day that he turned ten

On the news, one day, you'll see
about the man who beat his wife
her son will look back and say
this is what i call life.
