This Little Suicide - Poem by altaira hatton

I wanted to die
I won't lie

I am a bitch
Every seven years
I feel the itch

I shed my skin
I begin again

It makes me whole,
this little suicide,
my snake inside

I am Lazarus
I am the pheonix

[And I a smiling woman.
I am only thirty.
And like the cat I have nine times to die.]

I'll plan it next time,
I'll charge you a dime.

Gentlemen, ladies,
These are my hands,
These are my knees.

It is the truth,
I am the proof.

My death is becoming,
like my other lovers,
and didn't want me at the end.

I won't lie
I wanted to die

[]excerpt from Lady Lazarus, Sylvia Plath
