This Saturday Is The First Day Of Spring Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

This Saturday is the first day of spring.
Usually, I trim branches or graft fruit trees on this day.
Unfortunately, I was under bad weather
So I stay inside my house, looking out.
Daffodils began to open their first white and yellow flowers.
My Daffodil gardens will be in full bloom for Easter Sunday.
Maple trees sprout forth their red purple buds.
Asian pear trees have only bare brown branches.
Lawn grasses start to grow their greener blades
Several small birds hop around looking for fat worms
Koi pond waterfalls flow curtains of water.
Filter pumps just start filtering so water is not yet clear.
During winter months, Koi fish stayed low at bottom of ponds.
Now they are not hungry yet because water is still chilly cold.
Inside wooden fences that enclose my swimming pool
Five kittens are resting and basking in golden sun rays.

HÔM NAY THỨ BẢY ĐẦU XUÂN


Hôm nay thứ bảy, đầu xuân
Thường thì tôi sẽ tỉa cành, tháp cây.
Chẳng may, thời tiết làm đau
Thành ra tôi nghỉ trong nhà, nhìn ra.
Daff'dil chớm nở trắng, vàng
Hoa này sẽ rộ vào tuần Easter
Cây phong, chồi tím nhú ra
Lê tầu cành vẫn một mầu nâu thôi.
Cỏ sân đang tỉnh lại rồi
Vài con chim nhỏ tìm trùn, nhẩy sân.
Hồ Koi, thác nước buông màn
Máy bơm mới mở, nước này chưa trong.
Mùa đông, cá nấp đáy hồ
Đầu xuân, nước lạnh, cá không đói mồi.
Hàng rào vây kín hồ bơi
Năm con mèo nghỉ, nằm hong nắng vàng.
