Those Two People Poem by Khaleel Steir

Those Two People

Do this, do that! I know you gave me everything, but like come on
Why can't I rest, just like you want to when you get home.
No, no, like seriously, you take everything out of context.
These two just won't leave me alone.

One's a hypocrite and the other is know it all.
He contradicts everything he says, she can't be proven wrong.
It burns me up like paper on fire.
Get off my back for crying out loud!

When you come around, they're angels.
So nice, gentle, greeting you with such innocence
But when you leave, it's like a switch being flipped
And they become monsters again. Day when you're here, night when you're gone

I swear one day you two are going to miss me
Cause I'm not always going to be around,
Yes! No more cleaning the yard, washing the dishes
Oh yeah! Freedom is knocking on the door like the police

But I love you though, no matter what.
Mom, Dad, as I reach my hand out, money is placed in my hand.
Oh Yeah! Thanks Pops, Mom. You two are some cool people.
It's too bad this side doesn't last very long.
