Thoughts Based On Observation Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Thoughts Based On Observation

I've heard of marvelous formations that can be found
in clouds above…all you have to do is look around
Searching for recognizable shapes in an overcast sky
There are endless clones of robust forms to identify

Turtles with domed shells… heads and feet tucked inside
Drifting in clusters…unified shapes…side by side
On second thought, they are mushrooms without stems
Gray bottomed with white umbrella tops crowning them

On third thought, multitudes of buffalo are charging
leaving a haze of blinding dust…clarity is drowning
Thunderous clouds are traveling like a racing herd
Forceful winds are intensifying… vision is blurred

Attempting to deflect…I turn my back to hostility
The jostling wind proceeds to inhibit my mobility
Stampeding…trampling…onward bearing
Mindlessly and unitedly… with nostrils flaring

Yellowing leaves upon the trees release their grip
Yielding slender branches are reluctantly stripped
Beautiful summer days are swiftly blowing away
A rude reminder that colder weather is on its way

In the distance straying clouds begin to lazily graze
Unhurried…taking time to go their independent ways
Clouds dissipate allowing radiance to spills through
A calming persuasion appears as a dominance of blue

The absence of ominous clouds eases my mind
Stillness allows thoughts to form freely…unconfined
The cloudless sky gives an awareness of tranquility
Orphaned leaves upon ground …express vulnerability
