Throat Tightens Poem by Danielle Candy

Throat Tightens

Throat tightens
I cannot breathe
My worse nightmare
No longer a dream

Heart aches
My eyes sting
Watching you drool
Over the girl that can sing

Knees weak
I’m going to fall
I waited to long
I’ve lost it all

I held my tears
I didn’t want you to see
How much you mean
How much you hurt me

Now you act like nothing is wrong
But I’m reminded
Every time I see your face
Or hear that song
“Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
Nothing I can do a total eclipse of the heart”

For now my heart is bruised
I am down and out
I have no warmth
My light is out
I cannot sleep
I often cry
For the one I love
that special guy
